North Karanpura CBM Block NK-CBM-2001/1 lies in the eastern part of North Karanpura coalfield. The block has an ovate outline and covers an area of 271.8 square kilometer (Sq. Km) spanning across Hazaribagh and Chatra districts of Jharkhand State. Its Jharia CBM Block-1 covers an area of about 26.55 Sq. Km, with total gas in place resource estimated of 25.22 billion cubic meters (BCM).
